About Me

My name is Mitchell Negus, and I'm a first-year at Duke University studying mechanical engineering. I'm involved in the Duke University Marching Band on campus, and some of my interests are cooking, traveling, snow-skiing, hiking, golf, rowing, and video games.

Where I'm From

I'm from Chattanooga, Tennessee. Most people I've met at Duke fall into one of three categories regarding their knowledge about the great city of Chattanooga:

1. They don't know where it is or anything about it (90%).
2. They've at least heard of it since it was a Civil War battle site (7%).
3. They know that it's located in the bottom right-hand corner of the state of Tennessee and the home of the moon pie– probably only because they're from Tennessee (3%).

More Chattanooga Fun Facts:

• Chattanooga is the fourth most populous city in Tennessee (that's why no one knows about it).
• The Tennessee River runs through Chattanooga and is the twelfth longest body of water in the continental United States, which is why Georgia wants to steal our water.
• Although 73% of Tennessee is under central time, Chattanooga, as a part of East Tennessee, gets to be on Eastern Time.
• This isn't a fun fact about Chattanooga, but I have a 6 by 4 foot Tennessee state flag in my dorm room :)
