About Me
I am a member of Duke University's Class of 2021 and Bernards High School Class of 2017. I am planning on majoring in Engineering but I am undecided on which field I want to pursue. I grew up in a small town called Gladstone, New Jersey with my parents, a younger sister, a younger brother, and a Portuguese Water Dog named Moby. My main hobbies include soccer, ice hockey, figure skating, and lacrosse. I am planning on joining the club lacrosse team at Duke.
Name Pronunciation
I don't think the pronunciation of my name, "Madison Paulik", is too difficult but just in case, it sounds like "Mad-uh-sun Paul-ick". The IPA version is ˈmædəsən ˈpɔlɪk.
Grand Challenges For Engineering
I found the following article about one of the National Academy of Engineering's Grand Challenges of enhancing virtual reality:
- Using virtual reality to enhance user experience, Nicola Smith, Marketing Week, updated 12 August 2015, accessed 12 September 2017, (Grand Challenge)
Favorite MATLAB Demonstration
My favorite MATLAB demonstration is Viewing a Penny. I think that it is incredible that MATLAB has the ability to store information about and visualize the surface data of something so small and detailed. As a new MATLAB user, I like that Viewing a Penny allows me to view both the 2-D and 3-D images of the intricate penny I create.
